3rd Grade Reading
Reading stories will be taught over a period of 2 weeks. We will be implementing guided reading in the coming weeks, which consists of reading groups. Many of our stories will be taught from our textbooks, but we will also make use of classroom chapter books and nonfiction texts. Each story read will have activities and assessments that align with the Common Core State Standards.
AR
Students are required to read TWO AR books in their level per quarter. One book must be read prior to midterm and the other at the end of the nice weeks. Required books must be within the assigned reading level. Students will need to take the AR quiz following the books read. Each quarter, we will take assessment grades on the two highest scores from the tests taken.
Students are STAR tested each quarter to receive their AR level. Each student is assigned an AR points goal based on their individual level. Incentives will be given to student when they read 25%, 50%, 75%, and 100% of their point goal.
AR books can be checked out through the library and can be taken home with the student. We ask that AR books be returned to school each day.
